Sukup’s Unique Cross-flow Grain Flow Through Grain Dryers
SUKUP manufacturing company has developed and patented a unique “cross-flow grain flow through grain dryer” to prevent grain overheating and balance grain moisture levels during drying in modular grain dryers. This exclusive and innovative grain flow system moves grain from one side of the grain dryer to the opposite side as the grain moves from the upper module to the lower module.

Changing the side of the grain dryer on which the grain moves equalizes the grain moisture in two ways:
- Cold wind can greatly cool one side of the grain dryer, which will lead to an increase in the grain moisture level and uneven drying on one side of the grain dryer. Changing the side of the grain dryer on which the grain moves eliminates the negative impact of the wind on each portion of grain.
- When using the “cross-shaped grain movement pattern through the grain dryer”, the inner, hotter layer of grain in the upper module becomes the outer, cooler layer in the lower module. This pattern prevents overheating of the grain and contributes to a uniform moisture level of the dried grain. “Cross-shaped grain flow pattern through the grain dryer” reduces the variation in grain moisture levels in the inner and outer parts of the grain column and the sides of the grain dryer.

Sukup grain dryers are supplied in standard configuration and include:
- The grain dryer body is made of high-quality galvanized metal of American production.
- The diameter of the perforation of the drying chamber sheets is 2.38 mm. This perforation allows drying all major grain crops, such as corn, wheat, sunflower, etc., including sorghum, with the exception of small-seeded grain crops, such as rapeseed.
- Computer control of the grain dryer with a cable length of 7.6 meters, so that if necessary, you can place the control panel in the operator’s room. The standard package does not include a metal stand for installing the control panel separately from the grain dryer.
- Moisture meter and thermometer in the unloading head of the grain dryer.
- Two- and three-module grain dryers are equipped with a set of metal supports for installing the grain dryer on a concrete base. Single-module grain dryers in the standard version are not equipped with metal supports.
